Las Navas de Tolosa 1212

July 1212, the tremendous army headed by the kings of Navarre, Aragon and Castile defeated the Almohad troops at the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa.
Then, the victorious army moved on to the city of Baeza which was found empty and then to the city of Ubeda where the remain of the defeated army and both the population of Baeza and Ubeda had collected.
Ubeda was seized, its inhabitants were killed or taken as prisoners which was, according to the the Muslim text al-Marrakushi (*source 1), "a greater blow to the Muslims than the defeat in the battle".

Juillet 1212, la formidable armée commandée par les rois de Navarre, d'Aragon et de Castille battirent les troupes Almohades à la bataille de Las Navas de Tolosa.
Puis, l'armée victorieuse marcha sur la citée de Baeza qui était vide, puis vers celle d'Ubeda où le reste de l'armée défaite et les populations de Baeza et d'Ubeda s'étaient rassemblées.
Ubeda fût prise, ses habitants furent tués ou emmenés comme prisonniers ce qui fût selon le texte musulman al-Marrakushi (*source 1), "un coup plus rude aux musulmans que la défaite dans la bataille".
